Svatováclavské Vinobrani (Wine Festival)

So we found out that there was a local Wine festival going on up near the Presidential palace here in Prague so we decided to go take a look. Low and behold it was an amazing experience. We were able to try some fantastic wines as well as see Prague on a beautiful day.

This particular wine festival was focused more on prosecco and had many different vendors scattered all across the top of the vineyard located next to the presidential castle. They had a traditional Czech band up on the top of the hill that was, well, playing traditional Czech music(very jumpy and makes you want to bob side to side). Down low they had a Dj that was playing some cool house music that set the vibe for the event perfectly. Between the cool clear day mixed with a slight breeze out of the south made this an incredible day.

The one thing I can say about Czech wine is Burchak. Burchak is a young wine that is unfiltered and absolutely wonderful. Its sweet like grape juice but has only a little booze in it. This makes it perfect for sipping on while in one of the many parks in Prague.

Burchak Is wonderful and I hound Tyna for it when it is available, It is usually sold in local wine shops and sometimes in larger bars that can afford it. Unfortunately, Burchak spoils within about 48 hours and if you try and store it for longer you will have a sour smelling and ripe tasting drink.  This is why only a handful of establishments will have it available for sale. It is also only available during certain times a year usually between September and October. This is also when a lot of wine festivals are going on. Most vendors will sell it to you in a plastic bottle (usually a 1-liter or 2-liter bottle) and It comes in red and white. Keep in mind that this is unfiltered so you sometimes find floaters in the glass but don't be alarmed, its burchak, it's delicious!!! You can usually pick up a bottle for about 80 crowns for a 1-liter bottle.
