Seeing Prague in 2 Days.
So, I have had a few family members come visit me recently. They came in town for only 2 days. I would be meeting them on the second day as I had work and other responsibilities that I had to attend to, no big deal. So the day comes and I drive over to their hotel, no big deal except for the early morning traffic that occurs while trying to get across one of the bridges in Prague. I was essentially going from one side of Prague (Prague 10) all the way across town to Smíchov then back again. If you are attempting this it will take at least one hour there and one hour back (Take the subway).
So we are driving past some of the most famous landmarks in Prague when my family informs me that they have never seen these sights before. I asked them Quizzically "How have you not see the horse?!!!" it is one of the most important monuments in the city. The tour they told me they paid for never took them to one of the most iconic sights in the city, I couldn't believe it. So I'm writing now, frustrated that my family not only didn't see the big parts of Prague but they also paid for a 2nd rate tour guide.
This is my list of the Awesome Places to see in Prague if you only have a short period of time.
BIG THINGS TO SEE IN PRAGUE
1.Charles Bridge (1357)
2.Presidential Palace (1918)
3.Old Square (10th Century)
4. The Astro Clock (1410)

BIG THINGS TO SEE IN PRAGUE
1.Charles Bridge (1357)
- Super cool but you are just strolling across an ancient bridge.
- Has some really cool statues along the bridge
- You can do this on the way to other things
- Charles Bridge Location
2.Presidential Palace (1918)
- Really cool inside (if you can get in)
- Really good views of the city
- If they are doing any sort of Wine festival up there stop and pay for it.
- There will probably be a market of some sort up there. Its all so overpriced it hurts to think about.
- Location of the Presidential Palace
3.Old Square (10th Century)
- Really cool, loads of people flood the square and the surrounding surface streets
- Don't eat at any place where the food it above 200 crowns. Food should be in the 100-200 crown range, anything above that and they are just trying the screw you
- Stay clear of the guys on electric scooters, don't ask, just don't do it.
- Old Town Square Location
4. The Astro Clock (1410)
- It's under construction right now so keep into account that the face is visible but the tower is clad in construction blue.
- The animation is minimal at best... but it happens every hour on the hour
- Its located on one side of the Old Square
- The Astro Clock Location
5.The Horse and the National Museum (1818)
- Really cool BUT the national museum recently caught fire and is currently under reconstruction.
- They say the man on the horse was actually that big and the statue was made to scale.
- Loads of High-end shopping here.... Think Times Square prices.
- The National Museum
Small things that you will have fun doing
1. Náplavka
- Super cool at night.
- Old barges built into floating bars and restaurants dot along a boardwalk on the river's edge.
- Usually, is filled with young people, cheap beer/food, and live music
- Naáplavka location
2. Vitkov
- If you want to see Soviet memorabilia this is the place to go.
- Super cool old soviet era murals in the "Hall of Heros"
- Great historical museum of Prague and the Czech Republic.
- It is a little bit of a hike to get up to but has wonderful views from the top
- Vítkov Location
3.Klementinum
- One of the coolest libraries in Europe
- A for sure stop if you are looking for Historical places.
- You must check to see if they are doing tours because they are having issues with the management of the Astronomical Tower, the Baroque Library, and the Mirror Chapel.
- Klementinum Location
4. The National Technical Museum
- ONE OF THE BEST TECHNICAL MUSEUMS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO.
- know that this will take a few hours if not all day to go through.
- Most of it is in English but there are a few things that you will have to use your google translator for.
- National Technical Museum Location
5. GET OUT OF PRAGUE 1 and other stuff
- Yes, the downtown of fo Prague is amazing but that not all the city has to offer.
- Find a local football Holigan establishment and have a Pilzner.
- Walk around at night (no one will rob you)
- "Steampunk" is an interesting bar to go to if you get a chance. (bar/nightclub)
- There is an Art Museum at the end of the Old Square. Its the National Art Museum. It's fabulous, the curator there does a nice job showing most major classical artists as well as some new contemporary art.
- Stop into one of many Spas in Prague. They are usually cheap and private. I would pay no more than 1000 crowns for a spa here unless the utmost care was being taken of me.
